Tooth Loss Occurs When Swollen Gums Treatment Is Delayed
From the progression of gingivitis, a dental disorder can sprang which is known as periodontitis which involves the inflammation and the infection of the ligaments and the bones that support the teeth. Advanced gum disease called periodontitis can occur when the infected and swollen gums are left untreated or when treatment is delayed. The bacterial infection and the inflammation spreads from the gums to the connective tissues of the teeth causing the support to be destroyed. Eventually, teeth will become loose and may fall out. There may be also a need to remove or extract the infected tooth. In adults, tooth loss is primarily caused by periodontitis.
