What Is The Root Cause Of Periodontal Disease?
The root cause of periodontal disease is the common plaque build-up. Various risk factors that contributes to periodontal disease include the use of tobacco, hormonal change, poor diet and nutrition, crooked teeth, and certain medications such as oral contraceptives and blood pressure drugs. Once periodontal disease advances into periodontitis; periodontal pockets are formed, bone loss, receding gums can occur which is a great concern. The goal of periodontal disease treatment is not only to reverse the disease but to cease it. Brushing and flossing teeth is already useless once pockets are formed and become deeper, especially when the tooth pulls away from the gum. The event calls for a visit to the dentist and get gums and teeth managed by a dental expert.
